I started with my DAT17 Lishi. It picks and decodes Subaru's side-milled lock by reading each wafer position so I can cut an exact blade without the original. Then I connected through OBD and ran the all-keys-lost sequence, which clears previous keys and learns the new one as primary. His Key, FCC ID , was cut, programmed, and tested right there.
His car started in the same beach lot. Total was around $95. Dealer wanted $200 plus a tow. Lock decode to engine running took about 45 minutes.
