2017 Subaru Outback Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
She was at a patio in Rancho Santa Fe Village celebrating her birthday when someone grabbed her purse off the back of her chair. Keys, wallet, phone. Gone.
She borrowed a friend's phone, called the police, then her sister, then me. Her 2017 Subaru Outback was sitting in the lot with no keys in existence. The dealer told her sister three to five business days, bring it in on a flatbed, and strongly suggested rekeying the locks on top of everything else. The combined estimate was enough to ruin the rest of the birthday.
I got there that night. All-keys-lost after a theft is a specific job. The priority isn't just getting new keys made. It's clearing the vehicle's key memory entirely so the stolen fob can't start the engine. I connected through the diagnostic port, wiped the existing key data, and registered two new fobs from scratch. While the process ran its timed sequence, I pulled the emergency blade and cut it to her vehicle right on the hood.
Both fobs were working before the police finished their report. She had two keys instead of one, and the stolen fob was dead to the ignition.
The dealer comparison came up naturally when her sister asked. I just told her what I heard from them and let the difference speak for itself.
