2009 Audi R8 Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got a call from someone over near Isla Vista on a weekday afternoon. He had a 2009 R8 and one fob, and the remote had been acting up for about two weeks. Range was down to almost nothing and the lock button had stopped working entirely. Unlock still worked sometimes. He figured it was dying and wanted a spare made before he ended up with nothing functional.
He met me in a parking lot off Storke Road. I opened the fob, pulled the CR2032, and the voltage was reading low enough to explain everything. Swapped the cell, reseated it properly, and the remote was already behaving better. But he still wanted a spare cut and programmed, which was the right call on a car like this. You do not want to be all-keys-lost on an R8.
I cut a new blade to his vehicle and programmed the replacement fob on site. Tested the remote functions, tested the blade in the ignition, confirmed the new fob was enrolled and the original was still active. Both keys working before I closed up the kit.
He mentioned the dealer had quoted him a wait and a number that made him pause. He did not say exactly what they quoted, but the pause said enough. We were done in under an hour, in the parking lot, on the same day he called.
