A pediatrician in Goleta near Goleta Valley Community Center called me during school pickup. Her 2009 R8's comfort access had been fading for a week. By the time she called, push-to-start only worked when she pressed the fob flat against the steering column. Classic Kessy behavior when communication between the key and the module gets weak.

Once I had the extracted data, I wrote a fresh 48-chip (Megamos Crypto) transponder into a new IYZ3314 blank, cut the key blade to match her 4F0 837 220 profile, and programmed the fob through OBD.

Then the part that actually matters: testing every function. Comfort access on both doors, push-to-start from normal seating distance, lock, unlock, trunk release. All three buttons on the new fob, all three on her original.

She pulled out of the lot with a working spare and made her morning clinic on time. The whole visit ran about 50 minutes. The dealer route would have been days of waiting, a tow, and a much bigger bill.
