Got a call from a guy near Two Rivers Park in Fillmore about his 2010 R8. He had one flip key left and the blade was chewed up. Said it had been getting harder to turn the ignition for months, and that morning it barely went in at all.
He told me he called the Audi dealer first. They wanted the car towed in and said it would be a few days minimum, partly because R8 key stock is not something they keep on the shelf. He had a cane and no second car. Towing was not a simple ask.
I drove out that morning. His ignition used the HU66 keyway, same as most Audis from that era. I ran my Lishi HU66 pick and decoder through the lock cylinder and read each wafer position. The original blade had visible rounding on positions 3 and 7, which explained why it was binding.
Cut a fresh blade off the decode, transferred his Megamos 48 chip into a new 4F0837220 flip shell, and programmed the remote at 315 MHz. Tested the transponder start, cycled all three remote buttons, lock, unlock, trunk. Everything clean.
He watched from the passenger side of his own car while I worked on the hood. Whole thing took maybe 40 minutes. He kept the old shell as a backup. No tow truck, no loaner car, no waiting on a parts order. Just a working key, cut and paired on site, for a fraction of what the dealer quoted.
