2016 BMW 5 Series Smart key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

When a 2016 BMW 5 Series key is done wrong, BMW's immobilizer makes it obvious fast. The engine cranks but cuts fuel instantly. The fob slots but the CAS throws an error. Or the key programs initially but the DME rejects the ISN sync and the car dies after one drive cycle. BMW security is layered, and cutting corners on any layer means the whole job fails.

A customer at the watch repair shop in Montecito had a key from another locksmith that worked for three days then stopped. His 5 Series would crank but immediately cut fuel. The other locksmith told him the DME was bad.

The DME was fine. The locksmith hadn't completed the ISN synchronization between the CAS4 module and the engine computer. BMW's immobilizer requires the CAS and DME to exchange a secret number. If that sync is skipped or done wrong, the car runs temporarily on a grace period then shuts down. I used my VVDI2 to read the CAS4 data, confirmed the ISN mismatch, and reprogrammed the key with the correct sync. His fob, FCC ID NBGIDGNG1, was a 4-button smart key. Engine start was clean with no fuel cutoff.

His cost was 368. Dealer would have charged 662. The difference between a BMW key that works and one that dies after three days is the ISN sync. I verify it on every job because a callback on a BMW is expensive for everyone.
