He stared at it for a second and then asked why the first guy hadn't just done it right. I don't have a good answer for that one. I just know I verify the sync on every BMW job because a callback on one of these is a bad day for everyone.
The dealer route, for context, would have been a tow plus a wait on a VIN-ordered key plus shop time. He paid a fraction of that and had a working car before lunch.
