I got a call from a guy parked near the farmer's market area in Downtown Oxnard. His 2011 BMW 5 Series would not unlock. The fob had been acting up for a week, and that morning it just stopped responding entirely. He hadn't noticed the emergency key blade tucked inside the fob housing, so he was standing next to his car with no way in.

The fob itself needed attention. The battery contact inside was corroded enough that even a fresh cell wasn't making a clean connection. We cleaned the contacts, seated a new battery properly, and the fob came back. Touch unlock on the door handle worked again. Engine started without issue.
The whole thing took maybe twenty minutes in a parking lot. He'd been about to call for a tow to the dealer, which would have been a long wait and a much heavier bill. Instead he drove to lunch.
