A guy called me from a parking garage in Hollywood Beach, Oxnard, after business hours. His only key fob for the 2010 535i was gone. Checked his jacket, his desk, the elevator, the lobby. Nothing. He was about to call a tow just to get the car somewhere safe overnight.
I walked him through it on the phone. I told him to look at the base of the windshield on the driver side and read me the VIN. Then I had him pull up his insurance app for the registration. With that VIN I confirmed he had the E60 chassis with CAS3 and an ID46 chip setup, so I prepped the correct comfort access key and a fresh PCF7945 transponder before I left.
Under the garage lights I used the VVDI2 to pull the key data from the CAS3 module through OBD, generated a working transponder, cut the HU92 blade on my Condor, and programmed the new three-button remote. The whole time he just stood there watching, arms crossed, like he was waiting for something to go wrong.
It didn't. He started the car, tested lock and unlock from ten feet away, and drove home.
The dealer was already closed and would have meant a tow plus a wait of several days for a key order. He got it handled that night in a parking garage. If you text me the VIN before I arrive, I already know what to bring and the job moves faster.
