2014 Fiat 500 Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A couple staying near Rose Valley Campground in Ojai called me on a Saturday night. Weekend getaway, one key for the Fiat, and it just stopped working. The remote buttons did nothing and the engine wouldn't turn over. Their Airbnb host gave them the dealer number. Dealer said tow it in, earliest opening was Monday afternoon.
They found me online instead.
I pulled up to the cottage driveway about 40 minutes later. Their remote head key, FCC ID LTQF12AM433, uses a SIP22 blade and houses a Megamos 48 transponder chip inside the plastic head. I plugged into the OBD port and read the BCM through the PROXI configuration. The Tango programmer pulled the crypto data I needed to pre-code a fresh ID48 chip, then I wrote it back to the car's BCM so it would accept the new key.
Cut the SIP22 blade on my mobile machine, tested the mechanical turn in the ignition and the driver door lock, then programmed the three-button remote. Lock, unlock, trunk. Walked every function twice.
The whole thing took maybe 35 minutes in their driveway. They went from looking at a dead weekend and a tow bill to driving to dinner. The guy kept checking the ignition like he didn't trust it yet. I get that a lot.
They paid a fraction of what the dealer quoted, got it done two days sooner, and never left the driveway.
