2004 Kia Spectra
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2004 Kia Spectra Remote Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A guy over near Hueneme Beach called me on a weeknight. He worked third shift at the port and his fob had been getting flakier for weeks -- shorter and shorter range, then nothing. He figured he'd deal with it later, and "later" turned into standing in his driveway at midnight unable to lock his car remotely before heading in.

He still had the key blade, so the car ran fine. But he wanted the remote working and wanted to know if he needed to go through the dealer. He'd already looked it up and was braced for a long wait and a bill that seemed way out of proportion to the problem.

I pulled up and we started simple. The CR2032 in his fob was reading low voltage. Swapped it, cleaned the contacts inside the case, reseated everything. Still not syncing. The fob itself had given up.

I had a replacement remote on the van that matched the factory fob for his Spectra. Programmed it to the car on-site using my equipment, cut the blade to his vehicle, walked every button, confirmed lock and unlock and the rest were all responding. Done in the driveway before he had to leave for work.

He paid a fraction of what the dealer had quoted him just for the part alone. No tow. No waiting a week for a dealer appointment.
