A fleet dispatcher at the oil change place near Via Real corridor in Carpinteria had two company Spectras with remotes that were falling apart. One 2009 Kia Spectra had the OKA-674T held together with electrical tape. The buttons were mushy, the case was cracked down the seam, and the CR2032 was just sitting loose inside rattling around.
He called the Kia dealer. The quote for a new remote, programmed, plus a trip to the parts counter for each car, made him start looking elsewhere.
I pulled the old circuit boards and tested them on site. Both were still transmitting clean signals. The boards themselves were fine. It was just the housings that were done.
Swapped each board into a fresh OKA-674T shell, dropped in new CR2032 batteries, and verified all four buttons on each one: lock, unlock, trunk, panic. Then I cut new mechanical keys to match both ignitions since his originals were worn down enough that one of them was getting sticky in the cylinder.
He stood there holding both sets, clicking the lock buttons back and forth, like he was making sure it was real. Two cars handled in one visit, right there in the parking lot. His total for both was a fraction of what the dealer wanted for one.
