Got a call from someone parked near the Channel Islands National Park Visitor Center in Oxnard. Their 2017 Discovery Sport had one working smart key left, and it was acting up. Doors wouldn't unlock from the handle. Had to press the fob button right up against the glass to get anything.

Swapped it, cleaned the contact plate, and the passive entry came back immediately. Handle unlock, handle lock, all five buttons, start button from the driver seat, start button from the passenger seat.
Then I cut and programmed a second smart key as a backup through the OBD port. The KVM registration on these L550s has a timed security handshake, so the whole process ran about 25 minutes.
She watched the whole thing from the bench. When I handed her two working keys she just said, "That's it?" Yeah. That's it. Done on site for a fraction of what the dealer wanted for one key, and she never left the parking lot.
