Got a call from someone near Moorpark College, standing next to a 2010 GL450 in a parking lot with zero working keys. The original pair had been down to one for a while, and that one finally stopped turning in the ignition. Not an electrical issue. The HU64 blade was physically worn down on the shoulder cuts from ten-plus years of daily use.

Cut a new IYZ-3312 to factory bitting, connected to the OBD-II port, and wrote the transponder to the EIS. Then programmed all four remote buttons: lock, unlock, trunk, panic. Tested the key through three full start cycles because Mercedes EIS modules can be picky on the first write.
He sat in the driver's seat and turned it over, and you could tell he was bracing for something to go wrong. It just started. Clean turnover. He looked at the old key in his hand like he finally understood the problem was that simple the whole time.
Whole job took about 35 minutes, right there in the lot, for a fraction of what the dealer quoted him on the phone.
