Friday night in Simi Valley, out near the Sinaloa Lake area. A couple had been at a spot down the road and walked back to their 2017 Porsche Macan around 10:15. Nothing. Fob wouldn't unlock the doors, no puddle lights, handle pull sensor dead. They figured the car was stuck there until Monday when the dealer opened.
They called me. I was about 15 minutes out with everything already in the van. Porsche smart key blanks, the car-shaped fob shells, Hitag Pro ID49 chips, CR2032 cells, and the diagnostic hardware for KESSY registration.
I popped their fob open on the hood. The CR2032 was toast, barely reading above 2 volts. Dropped in a fresh cell and showed them the emergency key blade hidden inside the fob housing, the little metal key most Macan owners never know exists. That alone would have gotten them into the car. But the KESSY module also needed a re-registration through OBD to re-pair the fob to the BCM on their 95B chassis. Ran the procedure, fob came back online, all five buttons tested clean, and the engine fired on the first push of the start button.
They drove home that night. The dealer route would have meant a tow, a wait until Monday, and a bill for a lot more than what I charged on the spot.
