The charity gala started in three hours and her 2018 Porsche Macan wouldn't turn over. The car was sitting near the event entrance at a venue off the main road in the Woodranch community in Simi Valley. Trunk full of auction items. She was the coordinator.

I got the door open and moved the auction stuff somewhere safe before anything else. Then I took a look at the key. The 95B-generation Macan uses a remote-head key with a Megamos AES transponder chip on the internal circuit board. Her key's board had a cracked solder joint, the kind you get from one hard drop on a stone floor. The remote buttons were dead and the immobilizer wasn't reading the chip.
I pulled the working transponder from the damaged board, seated it into a fresh key shell with a new cut HU162T blade, and ran the programming through OBD with my IM608. Tested the remote lock, unlock, and trunk release. Cycled the ignition three times. Confirmed the immobilizer accepted the chip every start.
From her call to engine running was 48 minutes. She pulled up to the front entrance, greeted donors, and ran the auction on time. Nobody at the event knew there had been a car problem. The dealer would have been days out.
