Out in Erbes Road Estates, a guy called me from a visitor parking lot. He owned a 2023 Subaru Solterra and had one fob. That was it. The plastic housing had started cracking at the pivot point where the emergency insert key folds out, and he could feel the blade working itself loose every time he used it. I showed him both keys working before I packed up. He tested the door handles, the start button, all the fob buttons. Everything responded the way it should.
He mentioned the dealer quote almost as a footnote. He had already moved on.
