2025 Subaru Solterra Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Out in Saticoy, I got a call from a physical therapist who works home visits and drives all day.
Her 2025 Solterra was her whole operation, and the key fob shell had cracked through at the top loop where she'd been hooking it to a carabiner. The rubber on the buttons had worn thin, and one corner of the shell had split open enough that she was worried the internals were going to shift loose.
She called the dealer before she called me. They told her she needed a full key replacement. She didn't push back because she didn't know there was anything to push back on.
I met her in her driveway. The fob's factory ID matched the factory FCC ID, the shell was definitely done, but when I popped it open, the circuit board and battery contacts were clean and seated correctly. The CR2450 tested fine. Everything expensive was intact.
I transferred the electronics into a replacement shell with the correct button layout, seated the battery, and ran through every function: lock, unlock, door handle response, and the remaining buttons. Range was solid from across the driveway. Then I verified the physical blade and matched the cut profile so it would work the emergency override cylinder.
She watched the whole thing from the front steps with her coffee. When I handed it back and it unlocked the car on the first press, she said the dealer never even opened the fob to look.
That's the part that gets me every time. A shell swap and a function check, done on site, for a fraction of what they wanted. The electronics she actually needed were fine all along.

Home Service, Honest Reviews
What no-hassle service sounds like
“I had two fob keys made for my Subaru. Marco provided excellent service and persevered through three parts orders to get the keys I needed. He is very thorough in making sure everything is working properly. Communication and punctuality are also to be commended.”
“I had two dogs locked in the car and was having a horrible day. Joe showed up quick and made all my problems go away. Only use these guys. They are literally the very best!”
“They got to my location within 20 minutes of my phone call and had my new key+fob ready to go about 18 minutes after he arrived. A new working car key and fob within about 40 minutes and for a VERY reasonable price. I highly recommend. Customer service was great too.”
