Downtown IB sits right at the water, and the streets near the older residential blocks off Palm Avenue can get tight, especially when someone parks halfway into an alley. A guy called me on a weekday morning.

He had a 2007 BMW 3 Series in his driveway and one key, and that key was no longer doing its job. The car would crank but die almost immediately. He thought it was a fuel issue. His neighbor thought it was the battery.

I cut a new key blade to his vehicle on site, enrolled the new transponder into the immobilizer using my programmer in his driveway, and tested it through several start cycles before I packed up. The car started clean and held. He had been ready to call a tow truck and spend the day at the dealer. Instead he was back inside within the hour.

The dealer comparison came up while I was finishing the paperwork. He had already called them. They told him the key had to be ordered and he would need to have the car towed in. I was already done.
