Over near Libby Lake, a driver called me about his 2018 BMW 3 Series. He had one key, and it had started behaving strangely over the past week. The car was sometimes slow to unlock when he walked up, and twice the push-to-start didn't respond on the first press. That morning it stopped recognizing the fob entirely.

Then I had the conversation about a spare key. He had been putting it off because he assumed a BMW dealer was the only option and figured it would take days. I programmed a second fob on site. He now has a backup, which on a vehicle with no mechanical ignition cylinder as a fallback is not optional, it's just smart ownership.
He saved a good chunk compared to what the dealer quoted him when he called them earlier that week, and he did not have to leave the car anywhere.
