2014 BMW 3 Series Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

She had just gotten results from the oncologist and needed to get home. Her 2014 BMW 3 Series wouldn't start in the medical lot. Fob dead, push-to-start unresponsive. It was late afternoon in La Mesa and she had medication to pick up before the pharmacy closed at 6.

I got the door open and connected my IM608 to the OBD port. Her Smart Key, FCC ID NBGIDGNG1, was a 4-button smart key. The CR2032 battery had corroded the contact and the chip wasn't transmitting. I replaced the fob, programmed the new one, and tested every function.

From her call to engine running was 52 minutes at $391. The dealer was closed and would have been $697 plus a wait until the next morning. She made it to the pharmacy with time to spare and drove home in her own car that evening. When someone needs to fill a prescription before the pharmacy closes, the timeline isn't flexible.
