2016 BMW 3 Series
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2016 BMW 3 Series Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I was already running a call near Downtown Lemon Grove on a Saturday night when my phone picked up a second job about two blocks away.

A couple had come out of a restaurant off the main strip and the fob wasn't waking the car up at all. No door response, nothing. They weren't stranded exactly, but they weren't going anywhere either, and their plan was to leave the BMW in a lot and sort it out Monday morning with the dealer.

One of them found me while I was still wrapping the first job. I walked over with the van.

The fob was a 4-button diamond-style unit. I cracked it open on the hood and the CR2032 was original, probably from the factory. These cells don't always die with a warning, they just go quiet. Swapped it on the spot, reseated everything, and the fob woke right up. At that point it still needed to resync with the vehicle, which took another few minutes with my equipment.

First press, car started. The two of them looked at each other like they'd been expecting a much longer conversation.

They drove home that night instead of leaving a BMW in a lot all weekend. The dealer would have been a Monday appointment, a waiting room, and a bill that made no sense for what the job actually was. When the right parts are already in the van, a 10pm Saturday call gets the same result as a Tuesday morning appointment.
