2016 BMW X5 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I was parked near the Bancroft area of Spring Valley when the call came in. Owner of a 2016 BMW X5, smart key not working. He said he had already tried a new battery and nothing changed.
Before I even got there, he mentioned he had called someone else first. That someone showed up, spent a while at the car, told him the whole immobilizer module needed replacement, quoted a number that made his eyes go wide, and left without fixing anything. The X5 still sat there, not starting.

The fix was re-syncing the existing fob through proper programming rather than replacing anything. I walked him through what I was doing on the screen so he could see it himself. When the engine turned over on the first press of the start button, he just exhaled and said "finally."
The dealer was his next option if I had not been able to fix it. He had already called them. The wait for an appointment was days out, and the quote was for a full replacement key plus programming at a number well above what he paid me. He saved a good chunk, and he did not have to leave Spring Valley to do it.
