He was at the craft brewery in Carlsbad when he realized his jacket was gone from the back of his chair. Keys, wallet, phone. He borrowed the bartender's phone and called the police, then his wife, then me.
His 2019 BMW X5 was in the lot with zero keys. The BMW dealer told his wife it would be 4 to 5 business days, the car needed to be towed in, and they recommended reprogramming the full immobilizer since the stolen key could still open the doors. Estimate was over $900.

I used my IM608 to access the FEM, clear old key slots, and register two new fobs from scratch. His smart key, FCC ID NBGIDGNG1, was a 4-button proximity fob on the F-series platform. I decoded the lock, cut the blade, and had both fobs working before his wife arrived to pick him up.
He drove his BMW home that night with two working fobs. Total was $353. The dealer estimated $639 plus a tow and nearly a week without the car. The stolen fob is electronically dead now. Once the key memory is wiped, the old fob is just a piece of plastic with a dead battery.
