2011 Cadillac SRX Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got a call from a guy parked near the Target in Downtown Santee, in the lot just off Mission Gorge Road. He had his 2011 Cadillac SRX and one fob that was getting increasingly unreliable.

Not dead, just unreliable. Sometimes it worked from twenty feet away. Sometimes he had to stand right at the door. Then one morning it stopped waking the car up entirely and he had to dig out the mechanical backup blade to get in.

He had already replaced the fob battery twice. Fresh CR2032 each time. No change.

When I pulled up and looked at it, the fob battery was actually seated correctly and the cell read fine on the meter. I checked the car battery instead. It was reading low enough under load to pull down the passive entry system. The antennas on these need steady voltage to run at spec, and his battery was right on the edge where everything works just enough to be confusing.

We got the battery sorted, cleared the stored fault, and I re-verified both key functions through the diagnostic port while I was already connected. Doors, start, every button on the fob. All of it came back.

He mentioned he had been quoted a new fob and reprogramming by someone else. That would have done nothing, because the fob was never the problem. He saved a good chunk and the SRX left the lot under its own power with everything working correctly.
