I lost all my Cadillac keys. Can you still make a new one?

Yes. All-keys-lost is one of the most common calls we get, and we handle it on site for most Cadillac models. The process involves resetting the GM theft deterrent system, performing a BCM security access and immobilizer learn, cutting a new key, and programming everything fresh. Cadillac owners who call the dealer for an AKL job get quoted $540 to $800 or more and are told to tow the vehicle in. One ATS-V owner was quoted "$540 plus gotta tow the car there." We come to you and do the same job at your location for significantly less. On some very new models, NASTF credentials are required, and we have them.

Do I need to tow my car to the dealer if I have no keys?

Not for most Cadillac models. A mobile locksmith with the right tools and credentials can handle all-keys-lost right where the vehicle sits. Cadillac dealers default to telling you to tow because that is the only way they work. The ATS-V owner was told to tow the car in on top of paying $540 for the key. An Escalade owner in a similar situation was looking at $800 plus towing. A mobile locksmith can cut the key, run the GM theft deterrent relearn, and program the fob on site. The only exceptions are certain very new models where dealer-only software may be required, and we will tell you upfront if that applies to your 2013 Cadillac SRX.

How long does an all-keys-lost replacement take?

On site, most Cadillac AKL jobs take 30 to 60 minutes. Older models with PK3 or Passlock systems require a three-cycle theft deterrent relearn of about 10 minutes each, adding roughly 30 minutes of mandatory wait time on top of cutting and programming. Newer smart key models use BCM-based security access with their own timing. At the dealer, the same work can take a full day or more because of scheduling, towing logistics, and the GM SPS programming queue. A GMC tech working on the same platform as the Escalade says programming alone now averages about two hours under the updated anti-theft procedure.

What battery does the 2013 Cadillac SRX key fob use?

The 2013 Cadillac SRX uses a CR2032 battery. When we do an all-keys-lost job, the new key always comes with a fresh battery installed. You will not need to worry about battery life on your new key for a long time. We also recommend keeping a spare battery at home once you have your key, since a dead fob on a Cadillac push-button-start system will show "no remote detected" and leave you unable to start the car normally.

Can you make a spare at the same time so I have two keys?

Yes, and we strongly recommend it. GM immobilizer systems are programmed in sessions, so adding a second key while we are already connected costs less than calling us back for a separate visit later. During an all-keys-lost relearn, the system wipes all previously stored keys and enrolls the ones present, so programming two at once is the most efficient approach. GM typically supports four to eight keys per vehicle. If you just went through all-keys-lost, the last thing you want is to be in that situation again. Get the spare now while it is cheap.
