Out in Fairbanks Ranch, the calls I remember are the ones where the car is completely dead to the owner. No key, no backup blade slot on the column, no way in. The 2015 SRX is push-to-start, so without a fob the car won't even acknowledge you're standing next to it.

This one came in on a weekday morning. A resident off one of the longer private roads in Fairbanks Ranch had lost his only fob. Not misplaced. Gone. He'd already called the Cadillac dealer and was told it required a dealer appointment, a tow since there was no working key, and a wait of a couple of days for the parts. He called me instead.

The all-keys-lost process on the 2015 SRX isn't a button sequence or an ignition cycle trick. The body control module holds the registered key data, and when all keys are gone, that data has to be cleared and rebuilt properly. I backed up the module data first, then ran the all-keys-lost sequence through the diagnostic port. The system has a built-in wait cycle during the relearn, so this isn't a five-minute job even when everything goes right. I had a new five-button fob with the factory FCC ID on file, programmed it to the car, verified all five buttons, confirmed the start button saw the key, and walked the door handles to check passive entry on both sides.

He watched the whole thing from his front steps. When his SRX started up in his own driveway, without a tow and without a dealer, he just nodded like he was trying to figure out why everyone had told him it was impossible.

It isn't impossible. It's just tool-dependent. Right equipment, current software, and it's a field job.
