2015 Chevrolet Spark Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A couple over in Shadowridge called about their 2015 Chevrolet Spark. The car was their main way around, small as it is, and the one key they had was getting flaky. The remote buttons were hit or miss, and they were nervous about being stuck somewhere without a working spare.
The part they mentioned almost as an aside was that neither of them drove freeways anymore. The dealer was a straight shot down the highway. That was not happening.
I came out that morning and set up in their driveway. The Spark is a compact car, so there is not a lot of real estate to work with, but the OBD port is easy to reach and the job is clean. I decoded the blade from the lock, cut a second key, and programmed both the transponder and the remote functions on the new unit through the diagnostic port. Then I walked through both keys with them, confirmed remote lock and unlock worked, confirmed both keys started the car, and showed them how to check whether the CR2032 was getting weak before it actually died.
They had two working keys before lunch. No freeway. No dealer lobby. No waiting on a parts order. They saved a good chunk compared to what the dealer had quoted, and they did not have to arrange a ride to get it done.
