I got a call from a guy near Santee Lakes on a Tuesday afternoon. He was in the parking lot of his kid's pediatrician's office, fob in hand, car completely unresponsive. He'd already tried the door handle twice. Dead fob battery was the first guess, but he didn't have a CR2032 on him.
He'd called the dealer before he called me. They told him the earliest appointment was Friday, the part might need to be ordered, and he'd need a tow since the car was in a lot and he wasn't comfortable driving it with an unreliable key. Three days, a tow bill, and an unknown wait on parts.

I popped the fob open right there in the lot. The battery had enough juice to register on my meter, but barely. That kind of low-voltage limbo is the worst because the car sometimes sees the key and sometimes doesn't, and it sends owners in circles thinking the whole fob is bad. He stood there for a second looking at the fob like he was waiting for it to change its mind. It didn't. Everything worked. He buckled his kid in and left.
