2004 Dodge Dakota Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I was parked over at the Ferry Landing in Coronado, finishing a job, when a call came in. Owner of a 2004 Dodge Dakota had a key that would crank the engine but the truck would die immediately after. Every time. He had tried it six or seven times already and was starting to think it was a fuel pump.

I pulled out my programmer, connected to the OBD port, and enrolled a fresh transponder key to the truck. Cut the blade to match the locks. Handed it to him.
He turned the key, the engine started, and it stayed running. He sat there a second like he was waiting for it to die again.
He had already called the dealer before calling me. They wanted to schedule him out several days and quoted him a number he was not happy about. He got it handled the same afternoon, right there in the parking lot, for a fraction of what they wanted.
