1997 Ford Taurus
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

1997 Ford Taurus Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got a pin drop near Berry Park on a Tuesday afternoon. The owner had one key, it snapped at the bow right where the plastic head meets the blade, and the blade end stayed in his pocket while the head with the transponder chip was somewhere in a storm drain.

He found me, texted the pin, and I headed out. The car was sitting in a lot just off the neighborhood, not going anywhere.

The job on a 1997 Taurus is honest work. I decoded the lock, cut a new blade to match, and transferred the transponder element into a new key head. Then the onboard relearn sequence, because this generation supports it when you work through the right process. No waiting for a dealer appointment, no tow, no leaving the car overnight.

He watched the whole thing from about three feet away and asked good questions. When the engine turned over and held idle without dying, he just nodded like he had suspected it would work but was not entirely sure until that moment.

A dealer would have been two to three days out by his own estimate, and the car was blocking a parking space he did not technically have permission to occupy indefinitely. Getting it handled the same afternoon mattered more than anything else about the job.
