2002 Jaguar XJ Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I was parked on a street in Buena Creek, wrapping up notes from the previous job, when the call came in. A woman in Vista said her 2002 Jaguar XJ had been sitting in the driveway for two days. That is the split-system thing about this key. Remote functions and transponder functions share the same housing but they are not the same circuit. A new CR2032 fixes the radio side. It does not fix a dead or desynced transponder.
I pulled out my programmer, read the key, and confirmed the transponder had lost its pairing. Went through the OBD port, resynced the key to the vehicle's immobilizer, and handed it back. She turned the key, the dash light blinked off the way it should, and it started on the first crank.
She was a little quiet for a second. Then she asked me how she was supposed to have known that was two different problems in one key. Honestly, most people do not know, and that is not their fault.
