2010 Jaguar XJ Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I was already in Carlsbad when the call came in. Friday night, around 9:30, a couple coming out of a spot near Bressi Ranch. Their 2010 Jaguar XJ just sat there. No response to the fob, no door handle reaction, nothing. They had been pressing the buttons for a few minutes before they called me.
When I pulled up they were standing next to the car looking at it like it owed them an explanation.
The fob battery was the first thing I checked. Dead CR2032, which is a common enough Friday night problem. Swapped it on the hood of my van, seated the contacts clean, handed it back. The doors responded immediately.
Then came the part that actually mattered. I walked every function before I left: proximity at all four doors, remote lock and unlock, the push-button start inside, and the emergency blade into the door lock cylinder to confirm it was cut right and turned freely. On a Jaguar smart key you do not just hand it back when the lights flash once. You confirm the whole thing works before you close up your case.
They asked how long a fix like that usually takes at a dealer. I told them honestly: for a battery swap a dealer would probably get them in and out the same morning if they had an opening, but they would not have an opening at 9:30 on a Friday. They nodded. That part answered itself.
They drove home that night. I was back on the road before 10.
