2006 Jaguar XJ Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got a call from a Euro specialty shop off the main stretch near Coronado Shores. A customer had brought in a 2006 Jaguar XJ that another locksmith had already worked on. The word "already" in that sentence is never a good sign.
The previous attempt was an all-keys-lost job. Somewhere in the middle of it, the process got interrupted. Maybe a power drop, maybe the wrong procedure for this generation, maybe the original module data wasn't saved before writing. The result was a key management module that was partially written and not accepting anything. No fob would work. The car wouldn't start. The shop was stuck.
They called me as a last resort. I drove out to Coronado and assessed the situation before touching anything. The module needed a bench recovery, which means pulling it, reading what was left of the data, rebuilding a clean working state, programming a new key to match, and reinstalling. Not a quick job, but not a mystery either if you have the right equipment and you don't skip steps.
The whole process ran about two hours. The shop owner watched most of it. When the XJ started on the new fob for the first time, there was this quiet moment where he just nodded. No celebration, just relief.
He mentioned the dealer had been quoted as the backup option. Whatever that number was, it was enough that calling me first made clear sense. The car left running the same afternoon.
