2005 Land Rover Range Rover Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got a call from a resident over in the Naval Base Area of Coronado. He had two keys for his 2005 Range Rover and neither one was unlocking the doors remotely. The car still started, which told me right away the transponder side was fine. He had already bought a fresh CR2032 and swapped it himself, and nothing changed.
When I got there he handed me both fobs. I folded each blade out, checked the blade condition, then opened the housings. One of the batteries was in correctly. The other one had been seated backward, which happens more than people expect on these flip key housings because the orientation is not obvious. That key was dead from the moment he put the battery in.
The one with the correct battery was doing something else. The contacts inside the housing had a thin film of corrosion, probably from sitting in a center console that gets humid near the coast. A quick clean on the contact points and a correctly seated CR2032, and that one came back on its own.
The second key needed a full remote relearn through the OBD port to get the remote buttons paired back to the car. Did that on the spot, walked all four doors checking lock and unlock, and tested the blade in the ignition before I packed up.
He had called the Land Rover dealer before he called me. They told him to bring it in, said it would take a few days, and quoted him more than he wanted to think about. He got it done in his own driveway in about forty minutes instead.

“Showed up on time and made a new key for my Honda civic, I had an issue when my key wasn’t working properly and the buttons were clicking itself and he was able to make me a new key and correct the problem. Now my car works great and I’m happy with the service. Thanks Marco!”
“Excellent service, very reasonable pricing and quick service. Even Gave a free keychain with my number on it in case it’s lost so it could be returned. Definitely recommend for car key replacement in Carlsbad. Able to make a new key fob.”
“My key broke in a half so I needed a new one obviously. I called ez and marco is the guy that re created a new key for me. Very easy and I'm back in the road.”
