2006 Land Rover Range Rover
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2006 Land Rover Range Rover Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I was parked off Third Avenue Village on a Tuesday afternoon when a call came in about a 2006 Range Rover. Owner said his flip key had snapped at the pivot point, blade dangling. He'd been using just the blade by hand to turn the ignition, which works until it doesn't.

When I got there, the shell was in two pieces, the pivot pin long gone. But the electronics inside were completely intact. That matters on these, because if the circuit board and transponder are undamaged, you're not re-enrolling anything. You're just moving the guts into a new case.

I transferred the original electronics into a replacement shell, reseated everything, and confirmed the flip mechanism was solid. Then I tested the remote functions and confirmed the engine started and stayed running. No re-programming needed because nothing got wiped or lost power during the swap.

He'd already called the dealer. They wanted him to tow it in, wait for a parts order, and come back another day. He was driving again before he would have even gotten a return call from their service department.
