You get sluggish handle wake-up, inconsistent range, and occasionally a key-not-detected warning even though the fob still technically works sometimes.

Swap the CR2032 first. Make sure the battery is seated flat and the contacts are clean. If the behavior improves but comes back within a few weeks, check that you are using a quality cell and not a no-name battery that loses voltage faster than rated. If a fresh name-brand CR2032 does not fix it, then we start looking at the fob itself or whether the vehicle side of the system has an issue. But nine times out of ten, it is the battery.
