San Ysidro, Border Area, Saturday afternoon. A guy called me from a parking lot about two blocks from the port of entry. He'd driven down from out of town, stopped to grab food, came back, and his only key was gone. Not in his pocket, not on the ground, not at the counter inside. Just gone.

I cut both keys on site, ran the programming sequence through the OBD port, and verified the immobilizer accepted both. Then I did the part that matters: turned the ignition with each key separately, let the car idle, confirmed no warning lights. He stood there watching the whole thing, which I prefer. No surprises, no "what did you just do to my car."

He was back on the road before dark. The dealer would have had him waiting until Monday and charging a lot more for the privilege. I was done in about forty minutes in a parking lot two blocks from the border.
