2023 Mazda 3 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
He was already running late when his 2023 Mazda 3 went completely dark in a commuter lot in Rancho Bernardo, not far from the Santaluz neighborhood. The fob wasn't responding, the door handles weren't registering, and his train was pulling out without him. He called me at about 6:45 in the morning.
I was there in 35 minutes.
Once I got the door open, the first thing I did was pull the battery out of the fob. Dead CR2025. The fob itself was fine, both of his keys were still enrolled in the system, nothing needed to be reprogrammed. But the backup blade was another story. He'd never used it manually, not once in the time he'd owned the car, and the lock cylinder was so stiff the blade barely turned. I worked some lubricant into it, cycled it a few times, and it freed right up.
Swapped in a fresh CR2025, tested every button on both fobs, walked the door handles, confirmed the push-start was reading the key cleanly. The whole job was under 40 minutes.
He mentioned the dealer had offered him an appointment three days out. I didn't spend much time on that part. He caught the next train.
