When a 2015 Mazda 6 key is done wrong, it doesn't partially work. It fails. The engine might crank but not start. The push-to-start might detect the fob one morning and refuse the next. I used my VVDI2 to read the chip in her bad key, confirmed the data was wrong, and programmed a new key with the correct ID49 chip. Her fob, FCC ID WAZSKE13D01, was a 4-button smart key. The CR2025 battery was also low, which made intermittent detection worse.
The replacement has been working since. Her cost was $262. Dealer would have charged $451.
