2005 Mitsubishi Lancer Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Fletcher Hills is one of those neighborhoods where the driveways are steep and the streets go quiet early. I got a call out there on a weeknight from a guy whose 2005 Lancer had just stopped recognizing his key entirely. The engine wouldn't turn over, and he was already on a towing app pricing out a flatbed to the dealer. I told him to close the app.
He met me at the car. The key itself looked fine on the outside - no visible damage, blade intact. But the transponder inside had given up. These keys don't announce the problem loudly. The car just sits there. No crank, no drama, maybe a security indicator staying lit on the dash. That's the whole signal you get.
I connected to the OBD port, ran the key learning sequence for his Lancer, and got his replacement transponder key enrolled. The whole job happened in his driveway under a porch light. He kept glancing back at his phone like he was expecting a catch, some reason it wouldn't work.
It started on the first turn.
He mentioned the dealer had quoted him a wait of several days just to get an appointment, plus he'd need the car towed in since it wouldn't start. The mobile call handled it the same night, right where the car sat, for a fraction of what that whole chain would have cost him.
