2004 Nissan Armada Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got a call from a woman in Cardiff-by-the-Sea, parked near the beach access off San Elijo. She had a 2004 Nissan Armada, and her remote-head key had stopped locking and unlocking the doors. The blade still worked in the door and the ignition, so she had been getting in manually and just living with it for a few weeks.
Before calling me, she told me she had been through a bad experience with an unlicensed locksmith on a different job. No real receipt, no company name on the van, no working phone number afterward. This time she had looked up my license number with the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services before she dialed. She said it plainly and without apology, and I respected that completely.
She had already tried a new battery. She got the right size but the fob still wasn't responding to the doors consistently. When I got there, I opened the housing and found the battery contact had a slight outward bow, probably from whoever opened it before me prying it with something too thick. The CR1620 was sitting in there but not making solid contact. I straightened the clip, cleaned the terminals, and reseated the battery correctly.
I tested every button, walked both sides of the vehicle, and confirmed the remote was working properly. The transponder side had never been the issue, so no reprogramming was needed. She was back to full function in about fifteen minutes, parked right there on the street.
She needed a spare cut and programmed while I was already there. That part took a little longer, and the total was still well under what the dealer had quoted her the last time she asked about a spare.
