2017 Nissan Armada Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
She was at a valet lot off Gopher Canyon Road in Buena Creek, Vista, celebrating a birthday when her purse got grabbed. Keys, wallet, phone, all of it gone at once.
She borrowed a friend's phone and called the police first, then her roommate, then me.
Her 2017 Nissan Armada was sitting in that lot with zero keys in existence. When her roommate called the dealer, they said they could order a fob in three to five business days, the car would need to be towed in, and they also recommended having the locks addressed since the stolen key was still out there and could walk right up to the car and open it. Their estimate for the fob, programming, and the lock evaluation was not a small number.
I got there that same night. All-keys-lost after a theft is a different job from adding a spare. The most important part is not just getting new keys to work, it is making sure the stolen one cannot start the car or access it. That means clearing the entire key memory first, then enrolling new keys from scratch. I connected to the OBD port, accessed the immobilizer through my diagnostic equipment, wiped the stored key data, and programmed two new fobs. Then I cut the emergency blade inserts so she had a physical backup if the fob battery ever died. Tested every function on both fobs before I packed up.
Her roommate pulled in right as I was finishing. She drove herself home that night. The stolen fob is dead to that Armada. What the dealer wanted, plus a tow, plus a multi-day wait, never happened. She paid a fraction of that, on the same night it was stolen, without moving the car at all.
That is the part I think about when someone asks why I run a mobile service instead of a shop.
