2007 Nissan Armada Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I was in Coronado Village on a Saturday morning, parked on Orange Avenue near the shops, when a guy walked up to my van and asked if I handled Nissans. He had a 2007 Armada sitting a block away and a remote-head key that had stopped locking the doors. The car still started fine, but the remote side was dead.

It was not.
The remote-head key on the 2007 Armada is not a self-programmable situation on the remote side. You need diagnostic equipment to register the fob to the vehicle. The transponder side follows a similar requirement. He had the right style of unit, which was a good start, and the blade profile looked correct, but none of it mattered until the programming was done.
I pulled up alongside the Armada, connected my equipment to the OBD port, and walked through the registration sequence. Cut the blade to match his existing key, confirmed the transponder was recognized by the immobilizer, and tested every button on the fob against the doors and the rear hatch. Lock, unlock, panic, all responding cleanly. Then I dropped in a fresh CR1620 so he was not starting out with whatever charge was left in the factory cell.
He mentioned the dealer had told him to bring the truck in and plan on leaving it. A Saturday appointment was not going to happen, and he did not want to tow a vehicle that still started and drove fine just for a remote. We finished the whole job on the street in about 40 minutes and he drove off with a working spare in hand.
