2008 Nissan Armada
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2008 Nissan Armada Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got a call from a woman out in Rancho Del Rey, Chula Vista. She had a 2008 Armada sitting in her driveway and a fob that had been acting up for weeks. She told me she'd watched one of my Nissan key videos before she ever needed me, saved the number, and figured she'd call when the time came. The time came.

She walked me through it on the phone: the fob would unlock the car sometimes, not others. Range was maybe six feet on a good day. She'd already swapped the battery herself, CR2025, correct choice, but she'd pressed it in with her thumb and not checked the contact.

When I got there I popped the fob on the hood. The battery was new but sitting just slightly cocked in the tray. The positive contact had the faintest oxidation on it, barely visible, the kind of thing you'd wipe right past. I cleaned both contacts, seated the fresh cell flat, and snapped it closed.

Then I did the full walk: passive handle unlock on both front doors, the lock button, the remote start, trunk release, and a confirmed start with the fob inside the cabin. Everything came back clean.

She said she'd assumed she needed a whole new key. She didn't. The dealer had been her other option, and she'd already called them. The appointment was going to be days out. She cancelled it after I left.
