A backyard mechanic at the junkyard customer lot in Spring Valley had his key snap in the ignition of his 2010 Nissan Murano early one morning. Half the blade was stuck in the cylinder, the other half was in his hand. He couldn't turn the car off cleanly and didn't want to force it.
I used my DAT17 Lishi to extract the broken piece without damaging the ignition wafers. Once extracted, I decoded the lock and cut a fresh key from the readings. His car uses a separate remote fob, FCC ID KR55WK48903, so the fob was fine. I just needed to cut and program a new transponder blade. The immobilizer accepted the new chip within one registration cycle.
He was back on the road in under an hour from when he called. Total was $269. Dealer would have charged $459 minimum plus a tow and a multi-day wait. A snapped key at a junkyard feels like a disaster. For these older Nissan trucks, it's one of the simplest jobs I run.
