2025 Nissan Murano Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Out near Lake Poway Area on a Sunday, I got a call from a man who was already frustrated before I showed up.
He explained that another locksmith had been out earlier in the week, charged him for a full key replacement on his 2025 Nissan Murano, and left him with a car that would crank and then die after two seconds. The previous tech told him it was a module problem and walked away.
It was not a module problem.
I have seen this exact failure pattern before. The car cranks, fires briefly, and shuts down. That is the immobilizer doing its job. It means the key was not fully written to permanent memory during registration. The security system accepted the data temporarily, the process got rushed or skipped a step, and when the car went through a full key cycle, it rejected what was there. The car was working exactly as designed. The registration just was not done correctly.
I connected through the OBD port, cleared the incomplete key data, and ran a clean immobilizer registration with the full security handshake and timed sequence the system requires. When it finished, I confirmed the new fob was fully enrolled. Then I walked him through every button, confirmed the engine started and held, and let it sit running long enough that we both knew it was not going to cut out.
He showed me the receipt from the first locksmith. I could not do anything about that. What I could do was make sure this one was done right, and that he left with a car he could actually use. The dealer comparison came up briefly and he did not seem interested in discussing it further. He just wanted the car to work.
It did.
