2011 Nissan Murano Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Solana Beach on a Monday afternoon, right near the Cedros Design District. A home inspector called me from his apartment carport.
His 2011 Murano was sitting there, one key, and that key had stopped being recognized by the car consistently. Sometimes it would start, sometimes it would throw a key-not-detected warning on the dash and just sit there. He had an inspection route the next two days, and he needed the car to cooperate every single time, not just most of the time.
He had already called the dealer. They told him to tow it in and they could look at it Wednesday. Wednesday. He had back-to-back jobs Tuesday and Wednesday morning, and towing the car meant canceling both of them.
I got there that afternoon. His original fob was intermittent, not dead, which actually made diagnosis a little more interesting. I checked the battery contact tension first, because a slightly sprung contact on a CR2032 will cause exactly this kind of on-and-off behavior. Contact was fine. The fob itself had taken some wear and the internal circuit had a stress point. Not something you see from the outside.
I connected the programmer, cleared the existing key memory, and registered a fresh Intelligent Key fob to the car. Cut the emergency blade to his vehicle on site. Walked every function: passive handle unlock on both front doors, lock button, start cycle, the works.
He was back on schedule by late afternoon. The dealer conversation became an afterthought, and the tow truck never came up again.
