2013 Nissan Murano Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Over in the Las Americas Area of San Ysidro, I got a call from someone who'd already been to the dealer. She had a 2013 Nissan Murano and one working key. The second fob had been dead for months, and she kept putting off doing anything about it. Then the working one started acting up.
She said it would start the car fine, but the driver's door handle touch unlock had gotten unreliable. Some mornings it worked. Some mornings she'd grab the handle twice, nothing, then walk around to the passenger side just to get in. She thought the whole Intelligent Key system was on its way out.
I got there and pulled up in front of her building. First thing I did was pop open the fob she was still using. The CR2032 was original. Not dead, but low enough to cause exactly what she was describing: inconsistent range, handle sensor dropping out, the system working just well enough to fool her into thinking it was something bigger.
Fresh battery, reseated contacts, cleaned the terminals. Door handle touch unlock came back on the first try.
Then we moved to the real job: programming a replacement for the dead fob. That one needed full Intelligent Key registration through the diagnostic port. New fob enrolled, old dead one cleared from the system so it couldn't be used. I walked every button on both fobs, tested both door handles, confirmed three clean starts, and checked range from the sidewalk.
She mentioned the dealer had quoted her a wait of several days because they'd need to order the fob. I was done in about forty minutes, right where she parked.
