2011 Nissan Titan
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2011 Nissan Titan Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

It was a Saturday night in Bressi Ranch, the kind of evening where everyone is doing well right up until they are standing in a parking lot unable to go home.

A group had finished dinner near the Bressi Ranch shopping area and came out to their 2011 Titan. The fob had been acting weak for a couple weeks, and that night it gave out completely. They could not get the doors to respond at all, and one person in the group had heard something once about a backup procedure for push-button start trucks and thought that applied here. It does not. The Titan uses a remote head key in an ignition cylinder, not a proximity system, so the backup start sequence they were thinking of belongs to a different vehicle entirely.

They called me around 10 at night, more to ask if anything could even be done than to actually book the job. I was already in Carlsbad. I told them I had their key blank stocked and could be there in fifteen minutes.

When I arrived, I popped the fob open right there in the lot. The CR1620 was not just dead, it had leaked slightly and left a little residue on the contact points. Cleaned the contacts, seated a fresh battery, tested the remote range, then confirmed the transponder still read correctly and the truck started without hesitation.

That was it. They drove home that night. No tow, no waiting until Monday, no dealer appointment. One of them mentioned the dealer quote they had gotten for a spare key a year earlier. I will just say they were glad they did not go that route tonight.

When the right parts are already in the van, a 10pm Saturday call gets handled the same way a Tuesday morning one does.
