2023 Nissan Titan Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Out in the Border Area on a Sunday morning, I got a call from a guy standing next to his 2023 Titan in a parking lot. He had already been through it. Another locksmith had come out a few days before, charged him full price for a replacement smart key, and left him with a truck that cranked but died two seconds after startup every single time.
The other tech apparently told him it was a module problem and that he needed to see a dealer. He believed it for about three days before he called me.
It was not a module problem. What happened was the previous programmer had not completed the immobilizer registration correctly. On a 2023 Titan, the security system requires a full handshake sequence with a timed countdown. If you rush that process or drop the connection at the wrong moment, the vehicle can appear to accept the new key data but never actually writes it to permanent memory. The engine starts, the immobilizer sees something it does not fully recognize, and it cuts power to the drivetrain. The car always wins that argument.
I connected through the OBD port, cleared the incomplete key data that was sitting in the system half-written, and ran a clean registration from the beginning with the full security timer allowed to complete. When the process finished, I confirmed the fob was written to permanent memory and showed him the confirmation screen so he could see it himself, not just take my word for it.
Truck started clean. No stall. He tested it himself, twice.
He had already paid the first guy. I could not change that. But I could make sure the job was actually done this time, on site, without a dealer visit.
